LG Ladakh Approves Notional Annual Increments for SRO-202 Employees

Convener News Desk

Leh, Feb 25: Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta has approved the grant of notional annual increments for the probation period to employees appointed under the Jammu and Kashmir Special Recruitment Rules, 2015 (SRO-202), a move aimed at addressing long-standing pay disparities and ensuring service parity in the Union Territory of Ladakh.

According to official sources, the decision provides for the addition of annual increments on a notional basis for the period during which such increments were not granted while employees were on probation.

An official spokesperson said this adjustment will result in an upward revision of the Basic Pay, placing the affected employees at the correct stage in the applicable pay matrix.

The revised Basic Pay is expected to have a cascading effect on future financial entitlements, including Dearness Allowance and other pay-linked allowances.

Spokesperson said it will also ensure more beneficial pay fixation at the time of promotion, thereby correcting anomalies that had persisted since the implementation of SRO-202.

The approval will also translate into improved retirement benefits for the employees, as pension, gratuity and leave encashment are calculated on the basis of last drawn pay.

Officials said the move brings Ladakh employees at par with their counterparts in other States and Union Territories, removing disparities that had impacted career progression and post-retirement benefits.

Employees across the Union Territory have welcomed the decision, terming it a fair and morale-boosting step by the Administration that recognises their rightful service entitlements and contribution.
