LG Kavinder Gupta Reviews Law and Order in Ladakh, Calls for Vigilance and People-Friendly Policing
Jammu, Sept 29: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, on Monday chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the prevailing law and order situation in the Union Territory, directing officials to maintain a vigilant, responsive, and people-friendly approach in dealing with public issues.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Director General of Police Dr. S.D. Singh Jamwal, ADG CRPF Rajesh Kumar, and senior officers of the Army and ITBP, who briefed the LG on the latest security scenario, preparedness, and inter-agency coordination.
Taking stock of the ground situation in light of recent developments and partial relaxation of restrictions in certain areas, the Lieutenant Governor lauded the responsible conduct of the people of Ladakh, praising their patience, maturity, and cooperation in upholding peace during sensitive times.
While appreciating the efforts of the security forces, police, and local administration in maintaining normalcy, Shri Gupta urged officials to enforce law and order firmly yet sensitively, with due regard to public welfare and sentiments. He stressed the need for enhanced intelligence gathering, regular community engagement, and swift grievance redressal to further strengthen trust between the administration and the people.
The LG also called upon youth to channel their energies towards constructive nation-building, assuring that every legitimate concern of citizens would be addressed through dialogue and democratic means.
“Peace is the cornerstone of development. I urge all sections of society to maintain unity and harmony and not fall prey to the designs of anti-social and anti-national elements,” Shri Gupta said, adding that the administration is committed to ensuring the safety, dignity, and progress of Ladakh’s people.
Reiterating his government’s focus on preserving Ladakh’s unique culture and aspirations, the Lieutenant Governor said that sustained peace and stability will pave the way for accelerated growth and new opportunities in the region.
