Srinagar, June 18: Continuing its annual sports activity calendar, the Directorate of Physical Education and Sports, University of Kashmir conducted annual Inter College Road Race (Women) which witnessed a huge participation from various colleges of the valley.
As many as 150 female athletes participated including female athletes from Degree College Leh which exhibited an impressive performance of skill and endurance.
The race was flagged off by Chief Guest of the race Prof. Raies Ahmad Qadri, Dean Students Welfare ,University of Kashmir from Shalimar ghat which culminated at RUMI gate of Kashmir University.
Tashi Ladol(GDC Leh)14:30,Stanzin Chondol(GDC Leh)14:50,Stanzin Dolkar(GDC Leh) 16:20, secured first ,second and third positions respectively.
The position winners were felicitated during a prize distribution ceremony held at the University of Kashmir. Prizes were also given upto 10 positions.
Speaking on the occasion Prof. Raies Ahmad Qadri said he is happy to see an impressive participation which is an encouraging sign.
He lauded the Directorate for its efforts in improving the sports culture of the university in particular and attracting the participation from Leh.
He also congratulated the female students from GDC Leh for stellar performance in the event.
He thanked Vice Chancellor and Registrar of the University for their support towards the students co curricular activities. Dr.Nisar Ahmad Khan Coordinator, Directorate of Physical Education and sports also thanked the authorities of the university ,SSP traffic Srinagar, all Physical Directors, Staff of the Directorate, Heath Centre, Proctor Office, transport section etc. for extending their support and cooperation in making this event a grand success.
