SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 9: Kashmir Medical College & Hospital (KMCH), Sempora, has established a full-fledged Advanced Pain Management and Interventional Pain Clinic under its Department of Anaesthesiology, offering specialised treatment for patients suffering from chronic and complex pain conditions.
The clinic will provide care for conditions including chronic back and neck pain, sciatica, arthritis, neuropathic pain, cancer-related pain and other complex pain syndromes.
The facility will offer image-guided interventions, targeted nerve blocks, radiofrequency procedures and multimodal pain management. The hospital said the focus would be on identifying and treating the underlying source of pain while helping patients regain mobility and improve their quality of life.
The initiative is aimed at making specialised pain medicine available within Kashmir so that patients can access advanced treatment without having to travel outside the Valley.
The Department of Anaesthesiology also organised a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on pain management, which was attended by KMCH Managing Director Tausif Ahmad, Executive Director Insha Qazi, Principal Prof Nazir Ahmad Khan, Medical Superintendent Dr Syed Mubashir, Head of Department of Anaesthesia Dr Basharat Saleem and Head of Department of Orthopaedics Dr Saheel Majid.
Dr Shakeel Siddiqui, Dr Nyla Farooq, Dr Asif and Dr Benazir, among others, also participated in the programme.
The CME was followed by a detailed group discussion on pain management, providing doctors and medical professionals an opportunity to discuss advanced approaches and treatment options for patients with chronic and complex pain.
