SRINAGAR, June 15: A delegation of the Kashmir Timber Association met Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, to discuss key issues affecting the timber industry, particularly the need for replacing the existing timber transit docket system with a modern E-Way Bill mechanism.

The delegation comprised Jameel Ahmad Dar, Chairman & Founder, and Mohammad Isbaat Jahangir, PA to CEO & Founder & Senior Chief General Accountant.

During the meeting, the delegation highlighted that the timber industry in Jammu and Kashmir has traditionally relied on the docket system for regulating and monitoring the movement of timber products. However, with the expansion of trade and increasing demand for transparency and efficiency, the existing system has become outdated and often results in procedural delays, excessive paperwork, verification challenges, and operational inefficiencies.

The Association urged the Lieutenant Governor to consider the implementation of a digital E-Way Bill system for timber transportation. Such a system would streamline transit procedures, ensure real-time tracking, enhance transparency, reduce administrative burden, minimize disputes, strengthen regulatory compliance, and significantly improve the ease of doing business in the timber sector across Jammu & Kashmir.

The Lieutenant Governor patiently heard the concerns and suggestions of the delegation and assured that the matter would be examined for appropriate consideration.
