JKSA Urges Repatriation of Kashmiri Youth’s Remains from Saudi Arabia

Srinagar, Jan 16: The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association wrote to External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday, urging them to facilitate the repatriation of the mortal remains of a Kashmiri youth who was working in Saudi Arabia.

In a statement, the Chairman of the Association, Mushtaq Habeeb, said that Shakir Ahmad Wani, a resident of Mughalpora Pulwama, has tragically passed away due to cardiac arrest in Saudi Arabia. Wani was employed by Abdullah Albakar and AbdulAziz Almetrek Company in Riyadh.

Habeeb stated that the family needs assistance in bringing his mortal remains back. He urged the Ministry of External Affairs and the Lieutenant Governor-led administration to facilitate the repatriation of the deceased youth's remains.

He requested the External Affairs Ministry to take immediate steps with the Ministry to help bring the body of the deceased back home from Saudi Arabia for the last rites at his ancestral village.

Meanwhile, the National Spokesperson of the Association, Aadil Bhat, said that the Association has taken up the matter with Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for the early repatriation of the mortal remains to bring some solace to the bereaved family. Expressing hope, he said that they have been assured that the mortal remains will be brought back anytime in the next two days.
