Kupwara, Feb 9: JKPC spokesperson Rizwan Ashraf on Monday met Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Bala Sahib Suse and raised a series of long-pending developmental issues concerning Block Pohru in Langate constituency, officials said.

In a statement issued to Kashmir Convener, Rizwan Ashraf said during the meeting, he apprised the Deputy COmmissioner about infrastructural and civic problems in the Pohru hamlets including the condition of the Unisoo–Kuhru road, drinking water shortages in Kultoora, Guloora and Kohru villages, electricity supply and healthcare facilities.

Ashraf submitted a formal representation to the Deputy Commissioner, seeking the convening of a public darbar in Block Pohru to allow residents to place their grievances directly before the district administration and ensure time-bound redressal.

According to the memorandum, villagers in Kultoora, Guloora and Kohru are facing acute shortages of potable water due to the non-completion of a water supply scheme. The representation also highlighted the poor condition of the Kuhru–Unisoo road, stating that the damaged stretch has disrupted access to healthcare, education and markets.

Officials said the Deputy Commissioner assured JKPC spokesperson that he would personally visit the Pohru area to review pending development works and take stock of the situation on the ground. He also assured that steps would be taken to resume work on the water filtration plant at Kultoora, the representation said.

The issues raised, Ashraf said, were affecting daily life in the area and required urgent administrative intervention.
