JKNC Holds Peaceful Protest in Bandipore, Demands Restoration of Constitutional Rights and Full Statehood

Bandipore, Aug 5: Marking the sixth anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370, the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) Bandipore unit on Monday held a peaceful protest in Bandipore, demanding the restoration of constitutional rights and full statehood for Jammu and Kashmir.

The demonstration was led by District Development Council (DDC) Member Mewa Jan and organized under the leadership of JKNC Constituency Incharge Advocate Nazir Ahmad Malik.

Party functionaries including Block Presidents Gh. Hassan Sheikh and G.M. Malik, Halqa Presidents, Joint Secretary North Kashmir Tanveer Butto, Dr. Zahoor Ahmad, Youth NC District President Danish Shafi Bhat, Manzoor Ahmad, Rafiq Ahmad, and Ab. Khaliq also participated in tbe protest.

Addressing the gathering, Advocate Nazir Ahmad Malik reiterated the party’s long-standing demand for the reinstatement of Jammu and Kashmir’s constitutional position prior to August 5, 2019.

“What was guaranteed to us under the Constitution must be restored. We demand the restoration of our constitutional rights, constituency structure, and democratic identity as they existed before 5 August 2019,” he said.

He asserted that the National Conference has consistently stood for the rights and dignity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, and vowed that the party would continue its democratic struggle until justice is delivered.

An official spokesperson said the protest reflected the ongoing public sentiment around the changes made to J&K’s constitutional status six years ago and echoed a growing demand for the return of statehood, political empowerment, and the protection of regional identity.

Party leaders affirmed their resolve to continue pursuing these demands through peaceful and constitutional means.
