JKAACL, GDC Hajin organise seminar on Non-Fiction Literature; Releases Four Books

Hajin, May 16: A one-day literary seminar on “Non-Fiction Literature in Jammu and Kashmir” was organised on Saturday by the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in collaboration with Government Degree College Hajin at the college campus in Hajin.

Professor Irfan Alam presided over the function, while Professor Altaf Anjum attended the event as chief guest.
Principal of GDC Hajin, Professor Ghazala Firdous, hosted the programme, whereas Mohammad Saleem Salik was present as organiser of the event.

Welcoming the guests and participants, Professor Ghazala Firdous highlighted the importance of literary and intellectual gatherings in promoting non-fiction Urdu literature among students and society.

Mohammad Saleem Salik presented a detailed overview of the objectives, activities and contributions of the Academy towards promotion of literature and culture in Jammu and Kashmir.

During the first session of the seminar, Dr. Mohammad Yaseen Ganaie delivered a detailed and comprehensive review of noted writer Ghulam Hassan Talib’s collection of essays titled Phul Jhadi, which was widely appreciated by the audience.

The author was felicitated during the programme and the book was formally released on the occasion.

Later, Dr. Mohammad Yousuf Wani reviewed Dr. Falak Feroz’s books Husn-e-Intikhab and Nida-e-Noor, while Dr. Sabir Shabir presented his views on another book authored by Dr. Falak Feroz titled Shama Farozan.

The reviews received applause and appreciation from the participants. The books of Dr. Falak Feroz were also formally released during the event.
Dr. Javed Ahmad shared his impressions in English and appreciated the efforts being made for the promotion of non-fiction literature in the region.

The second session of the seminar featured a special essay-reading programme. Abida Manzoor, a student of the college, presented an essay titled Main Aur Mera Mobile. Mohammad Saleem Salik presented his essay Facebook Status, while Dr. Falak Feroz presented Galiyon Ki Zad Mein Qatilon Ke Khanjar.

Engineer Shafi Ahmad presented his essay Akhbar Baini, whereas Zunfar Khokhar presented Mazloom. Ghulam Hassan Talib presented his essay titled Intezaar.
The last essay, Fun-e-Naqadi, was presented by Kacho Asfandiyar Khan, who also delivered his presidential address during the session.
Professor Altaf Anjum and Professor Irfan Alam also shared their thought-provoking views on literature and contemporary intellectual discourse.

The proceedings of the seminar were conducted by Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Lone.

A large number of students, scholars and prominent personalities from various fields attended the event.
