February 12: The Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) has raised concerns over the selective disbursement of Travelling Allowance (TA) for teachers who performed Republic Day duties, demanding fair treatment for all teachers.

In a statement issued to Kashmir Convener, JKTF spokesperson Anjum Nisar said the forum questioned why only some teachers were granted TA in particular zones while all educators actively participated in Republic Day preparations.

“Teachers across the district devoted five to ten days to the event, fulfilling various responsibilities. It is unjust to overlook their contributions,” he stated.

The Forum lauded the efforts of the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Hajin for ensuring that all teachers in the zone received their rightful TA. “We are very thankful to the ZEO Hajin for setting a fair precedent by granting TA to all teachers who were involved in the Republic Day function,” Spokesperson Anjum Nisar added.

He urged the concerned Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) to take necessary action and release the pending TA for all teachers across the district. He emphasized that every teacher played a crucial role in different components of the celebrations and deserved equal recognition.

“The Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum has consistently advocated for the rights and welfare of educators, and this latest demand highlights the need for fair and transparent policies in the education department”.
