Srinagar, April 23: In the aftermath of the tragic attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of over 28 innocent tourists, the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) has issued an urgent advisory for Kashmiri students studying across India, urging them to remain vigilant, calm, and safe during this sensitive time.

Calling for restraint and awareness, the Association has advised students to avoid political discussions and refrain from posting provocative or sensitive content on social media platforms that could trigger backlash or invite danger.

In a statement, Nasir Khuehami, National Convenor of JKSA, appealed to students to remain indoors unless absolutely necessary, avoid public gatherings, and stay alert. “We appeal to all Kashmiri students to maintain calm, avoid engaging in political debates or posting inflammatory content, and to stay indoors as much as possible,” he said. “The situation remains volatile and could escalate further, posing serious risks.”

To provide timely support and assistance, the Association has shared a list of helpline numbers for students facing any kind of distress:

Helpline Numbers:

9149676014, 7006922829, 8825005327, 9906299199,

9602689622, 6006169477, 8082602445, 9149500623,

Ummar Jamal, National President of the Association, said a dedicated response team has been activated to provide support and coordinate with local authorities whenever needed. He urged students to share the helpline numbers widely among their peers.

Condemning the Pahalgam attack in the strongest terms, the Association called it a barbaric and cowardly act. “No cause or ideology can justify such brutality. The cold-blooded killing of innocent civilians is an affront to humanity,” the statement read. “Terror has no religion, no justification—it must be condemned with unity, resolve, and justice.”

Expressing deep solidarity with the victims’ families, the Association said, “Our hearts go out to those who have lost their loved ones. We stand with them in this hour of grief. Our prayers and support are with all those affected by this horrific tragedy.”

Ummar further urged students not to succumb to any form of provocation or misplaced bravado. “Your safety and your future must be the priority. Don’t let hate-mongers exploit this tragedy. Focus on your education and avoid unnecessary risks.”

“We strongly advise all Kashmiri students across India to remain indoors, stay away from public confrontation, and avoid circulating or reacting to inflammatory content online. If you feel threatened or unsafe, please contact the local police or reach out to us. Your security is our utmost concern,” the Association reiterated.
