JK Govt Elevates 368 JE’s as Assistant Engineers; Minister Javed Rana Calls for Immediate Referral of Fresh Vacancies
Jammu, April 30: The J&K Government on Tuesday elevated 368 Junior Engineers (JEs) to the post of Assistant Engineers (AEs).
An official spokesperson of the minister of Jal Shakti said the move aimed to strengthen the human resource management in the Jal Shakti Department. The promotions were formalised through Government Order No. 103-JK(JSD) of 2025 and Government Order No. 104-JK(JSD) of 2025, both dated April 30, 2025.
Spokesperson said Jal Shakti Minister Javed Ahmed Rana, who has been proactively addressing the department’s acute human resource gaps, had earlier issued firm directions for regular reviews of the HR status and timely convening of Departmental Promotion Committees (DPCs) to tackle the chronic shortage of officers.
The latest round of promotions is seen as a major boost to administrative efficiency within the department.
In recent weeks, the department also placed 25 Executive Engineers as Superintending Engineers to offset a staggering 90 percent shortfall at that level. Furthermore, over 300 vacancies were referred to the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) for recruitment.
Following the elevation of the 368 JEs, Minister Rana has directed departmental officials to immediately refer the resulting vacancies to recruitment agencies. He has also stressed the need for conducting special recruitment drives to fill these posts on a fast-track basis, in order to ensure seamless project implementation and service delivery under the Jal Shakti Mission.
