Bandipora, June 26: Socio-political activist and former Chairman of Municipal Committee Sumbal, Jehangir Ahmad, on Friday expressed gratitude to the district administration for ensuring the smooth and peaceful conduct of Ashura processions across Bandipora district.
In a statement issued to Kashmir Convener, Jehangir Ahmad appreciated the efforts of the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Indu Kanwal Chib, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bandipora Ajaz Ahmad Zargar, and Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sumbal Mukhtar Ahmad and other civil and police officials of the Sumbal sub division for making comprehensive arrangements during the sacred days of Muharram.
He said the administration ensured adequate healthcare facilities, sanitation, uninterrupted water and power supply, effective traffic management, deployment of mobile water tankers, mobile hospitals, and other essential public services to facilitate mourners.
Jehangir Ahmad also lauded the police for maintaining a peaceful atmosphere and ensuring the processions were conducted in a safe and orderly manner. He said the coordinated efforts of the civil administration and police were widely appreciated by the public and contributed significantly to the successful observance of Ashura in the district.
