Railways adds extra sleeper coach for Navratri rush

Jammu: In view of the heavy influx of devotees traveling for darshan of Mata Vaishno Devi during the upcoming Navratri festival, the Jammu Division of Northern Railway has decided to attach an additional sleeper coach to Train No. 13151/13152 (Kolkata–Jammu Tawi–Kolkata Express).

The facility will remain available from March 20 to April 02, aiming to accommodate the surge in passenger traffic during the festive period. Officials said the move is expected to significantly improve the chances of ticket confirmation for passengers currently on long waiting lists.

With the addition of the extra sleeper coach, around 72 to 80 passengers per day are likely to secure confirmed berths, while also reducing overcrowding in existing coaches. This will ensure a safer, smoother, and more comfortable journey for passengers heading towards Jammu.Given the high footfall during Navratri, the step is expected to provide much-needed relief to devotees, preventing last-minute cancellations and easing travel arrangements.

Commenting on the initiative, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal said that the decision was taken keeping in mind the increased passenger demand and long waiting lists during the auspicious occasion. He assured that the Railways is continuously monitoring the situation and will take further measures as required to facilitate passengers.Passengers have been advised to check the latest berth status through the official Railway website or by calling the helpline number 139.
