Sumbal, Feb 27: Former Municipal Chairman Jahangeer Dar has strongly objected to the transfer of 200 kanals of land in Inderkote Sheikh Sar to the Industries and Commerce Department by the revenue authorities of Sumbal Sub-Division.

Speaking on behalf of local residents, Dar said the land in question already accommodates key public facilities, including a playground and a marriage hall constructed in 2021. He claimed that despite its established community use, the land was reportedly transferred in 2024 without adequately assessing the ground situation.

Terming the move “deeply unfortunate,” Dar alleged that the authorities acted without consulting local stakeholders or taking the population into confidence. He said the decision has sparked widespread concern among residents, who have long used the land for community purposes.

Criticising what he described as administrative oversight and lack of coordination, Dar maintained that such actions undermine public trust and disregard existing community assets.

He asserted that the people of the area are prepared to approach the court to challenge the transfer order and ensure protection of public property.
