Srinagar, Apr 07: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday claimed to have busted an interstate terror module of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Srinagar, arresting five individuals, including two Pakistani terrorists, including Abdullah, alias Abu Hureira, who has been on the run for 16 years and was able to set up bases outside the union territory, officials said on Tuesday.Officials told news agency Kashmir Dot Com that the operation was carried out following sustained intelligence inputs and technical surveillance, leading to the identification of a well-organised network operating across multiple states.

They said that during the course of investigation, Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted searches at 19 locations across Jammu and Kashmir and other states, including Rajasthan and Haryana. During the searches, incriminating material linked to terror activities was recovered.Officials revealed that the probe has unearthed a deep-rooted LeT network involved in providing logistical and financial support to terrorists. The module was reportedly facilitating movement, shelter, and funding for active militants, posing a significant threat to security.

The officials said three Srinagar residents were among the five caught. Mohammad Naqeeb Bhat, Adil Rashid Bhat and Ghulam Mohammad Mir alias Mama were arrested for allegedly providing logistical support, including shelter and food to the terrorists, they said.

The officials said the probe indicates that a foreign terrorist managed to travel outside the country on the basis of forged documents and passport from Rajasthan with the help of the Lashkar-e-Taiba network in other states.

The terrorists infiltrated into India about 16 years ago during which they remained active in various districts of the Kashmir Valley, including Srinagar. Over the years, they handled and commanded about 40 foreign terrorists. Most of these have been killed by security forces.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the arrested individuals were in close coordination with handlers across the border and were playing a crucial role in sustaining terror operations in the region.

Police said further investigation is underway to identify additional links and dismantle the wider network associated with the module. – (KDC)
