International Mother Language Day Celebrated at Koragbal

Bandipora, February 22: Indian Army stationed at Snowbound Kanzalwan Village near Line of Control in Gurez Valley on Monday celebrated International Mother Language Day.

 

An official spokesperson said it is vital for any culture's sustenance to instil a sense of pride and happiness to converse in their mother tongue. " Keeping this in mind the International Mother Language day was celebrated in Koragbal Village on 21 Feb 22 which was also an endeavour of the army to promote Gurezi culture".

 

Locals performed folk songs in Shina language and enthusiastic children stole the show with a folk dance performance not only showing the cultural diversity of the region but also expressed their love towards own language and culture. Moreover on request of locals a Kannada song was performed by a Soldier.

 

 He said the locals expressed their gratitude towards the Army for promoting local traditions and culture to the Indian mainland and also expressed their happiness towards the efforts of the army to make Kanzalwan region a tourist destination in coming summer season.
