New Delhi, March 12: Troops of the Indian Army’s Rashtriya Rifles stationed in Bandipora on Thursday recovered a civilian vehicle that had skidded off the road following adverse weather conditions, officials said.

The incident occurred when the vehicle reportedly lost control on a slippery stretch of road and slid off the roadside, creating a risk for the occupants.

On receiving information about the incident, Army personnel from the Bandipora Rashtriya Rifles unit reached the location and initiated a recovery operation.

According to officials, the troops followed standard safety protocols and established recovery drills to secure the area and prevent further risk. The vehicle was subsequently retrieved from its position off the road. No injuries were reported in the incident, and the vehicle was recovered without damage.

Authorities said the response was part of routine assistance provided by Army units deployed in the district, particularly during periods of adverse weather that can affect road safety in the region. Bandipora, located in north Kashmir, has experienced weather-related disruptions in recent days, contributing to slippery road conditions.

The Army unit coordinated at the site to ensure the safety of the occupants and restore normal movement along the affected stretch. Officials confirmed that traffic was not significantly disrupted during the operation.

Local residents expressed appreciation for the assistance provided. The Army stated that such interventions are undertaken when required to support civilian safety in areas where its units are deployed.

The recovery operation concluded after the vehicle was moved to a secure position and the road was cleared.
