Poonch, May 12: Amid heightened tensions along the Line of Control, the Indian Army has stepped up its humanitarian outreach by actively engaging with civilians displaced due to recent cross-border shelling in Surankote and surrounding areas of Poonch district.

Army personnel have been visiting temporary relief shelters and community clusters, offering not just material support but also emotional reassurance to families uprooted by the hostilities. The initiative aims to instill a sense of safety and solidarity among the affected residents, many of whom have expressed anxiety over the ongoing shelling and uncertain conditions.

Locals have deeply appreciated the Army’s compassionate approach, describing it as a source of comfort in difficult times. “More than protection, they have given us a sense of care and dignity,” said one resident at a makeshift shelter.

Through sustained interaction and responsive relief measures, the Indian Army continues to uphold its commitment to the people of Jammu and Kashmir—not just through security, but by standing with them during moments of hardship and displacement.
