In Kishtwar district, the Indian Army organised the Dachhan Cricket Premier League 2025 at Sondar, Dachhan, which concluded on December 28. The tournament, inaugurated on December 16, witnessed enthusiastic participation from 16 teams representing various areas of the Dachhan region. After 14 closely contested league matches, the final was played between Elite Warriors and United Sondar, in which Elite Warriors emerged victorious.

The winning team was awarded a championship trophy along with a cash prize of ₹16,000, while the runners-up received a trophy and a cash prize of ₹8,000. Individual excellence was also recognised, with “Man of the Series” and “Man of the Match” awards presented along with cash prizes and trophies.

Two umpires were also felicitated for their contribution to the smooth conduct of the tournament. The league provided a vibrant platform for local youth to showcase their cricketing talent, foster healthy competition and strengthen community bonding, and was widely appreciated by the local population for enhancing camaraderie between civilians and the armed forces.

Meanwhile, in Rajouri district, the Indian Army conducted an awareness lecture on road safety and accident prevention at Government Higher Secondary School, Khawas, on December 29. The programme was attended by 51 staff members and students and was aimed at sensitising young citizens about the importance of traffic discipline and safe road behaviour.

During the interactive session, students were educated on the dangers of reckless driving, overloading, riding without helmets and violating traffic rules. Emphasis was laid on essential safety measures such as wearing helmets and seat belts, adhering to speed limits, avoiding distractions while driving and following traffic regulations.

Real-life examples and open discussions made the session engaging and informative, helping students better understand the risks associated with negligence on roads. The lecture received an encouraging response, with participants expressing interest in more such awareness programmes in the future.

Through initiatives such as sports promotion and public awareness campaigns, the Indian Army continues to reinforce its commitment to community welfare, youth development and strengthening the bond of trust and cooperation with the local population across the region.
