Indian Army organises village mela 2020 at Sumbal

Bandipora,  November 12:  13 RR Bn (Kumaon) under the aegis of 3 sector RR organised a mega village mela at Wangipora on Thursday in continuation with its efforts to reach out the public with an aim to further nurture the already existing strong bond between the Indian army & the Public(Awaam).

                The event was so designed to be a mix of village games to include slow cycle race, lemon & spoon race, Jalebi race, sack race, knock the glass, ring throw, balloon shooting, kick the ball, musical chair, tug of war, bull ride & many more which enthralled everyone. in addition, sufi singing, patriotic songs by kids, traditional/ folk dance by a troupe, & demonstration of martial arts by the very famous international sports icon md Faisal rather & his team, in which self defence for women was also shown.

                A medical camp was also organised keeping in mind the medical problems of the locals & the paucity of healthcare resources in far flung areas, wherein thousands of locals from all age segments benefited out of it.  The event witnessed a footfall of 3000 plus people with unprecedented participation from all the nearby villages. the aim of the event was also to promote peace & a healthy lifestyle among the locals.

                Winners and participants of all games were awarded & felicitated by commander, hq 3 sector RR, the chief guest, with exciting prizes during the closing ceremony by strictly following all covid-19 precautions.

                In addition to the winners, the chief guest also felicitated the needy people with wheel chairs, blankets, carpentry tools, solar lamps, stationary kits, sewing machines & sports kits to budding players.

                Various stalls to include snack corners, local delicacies, civil administration dept stalls, Kashmiri culture & many other were setup for the locals.

                J&K Govt & CRPF officials, respected elderly & other civil dignitaries from nearby areas attended the event. The response from all locals was overwhelming. the village elders were very appreciative of the Indian army's efforts to make the event a grand success & also requested for more such events in the future.
