Ramban, June 3: As part of its ongoing community outreach and youth engagement initiatives, the Indian Army organised a Lecture-cum-Awareness Programme on Drug Abuse and Its Prevention at Government Degree College, Ukhral. The event reaffirmed the Army’s steadfast commitment to public welfare, particularly in addressing issues that affect the youth of the region.

The awareness campaign focused on sensitizing students, faculty, and local residents to the growing threat of substance abuse and the collective responsibility to combat it. The event witnessed active participation from 62 students, 9 teachers, and 20 local residents, all eager to better understand the dangers of drug addiction and methods of prevention.

The session was conducted by Indian Army officers and medical professionals, who highlighted the causes, early warning signs, health hazards, and broader social consequences of drug abuse. The speakers emphasized the importance of preventive measures, the critical role of family and educational institutions, and the need for early intervention and rehabilitation.

The interactive nature of the programme allowed for a lively Q&A session, where students raised thoughtful questions and engaged meaningfully with the experts. Their interest and curiosity reflected growing awareness among the younger generation about this serious social issue.

The Indian Army continues to play a proactive role in promoting education, health, and social awareness in Ukhral and neighbouring regions, strengthening the foundation of a drug-free, empowered, and resilient society.
