Indian Army Leads Swift Rescue After Chisoti Cloudburst in Kishtwar
Kishtwar, Aug 15, 2025: In a prompt and coordinated humanitarian effort, the Indian Army—working in close synergy with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Civil Administration, and State Disaster Response Force—launched an extensive search and rescue operation following a devastating cloudburst at Chisoti village, Kishtwar.
The incident occurred around 12:45 PM along the route of the ongoing Machail Mata Yatra, triggering flash floods and extensive destruction that led to casualties among both yatris and locals.
Upon receiving information, Army rescue columns were immediately mobilized to the site. Despite treacherous terrain, rising water levels, and debris-laden flows, troops reached the stranded civilians and provided lifesaving assistance.
Equipped with specialist gear, vehicles, and medical personnel, the Army teams evacuated survivors to safer locations and rendered immediate first aid. Food, drinking water, blankets, and emergency medical care were provided on the spot. Search efforts remain underway to locate the missing, with engineering assets deployed to clear blocked approach routes for uninterrupted relief operations.
