Poonch, May 12: In a swift humanitarian response to the recent cross-border shelling incidents in the Poonch district, the Indian Army has provided essential food supplies to hundreds of displaced civilians in Surankote and adjoining areas.
Army teams reached out to over 500 individuals who had fled from vulnerable border villages and taken refuge in safer locations in the hinterland. Essential food packets containing groceries and daily-use items were distributed by officers, JCOs, and jawans at temporary shelters and community relief clusters.
This initiative was part of the Indian Army’s ongoing efforts to alleviate the immediate hardships faced by affected families and ensure their basic nutritional needs are met during this crisis. Civilians, many of whom had to leave their homes at short notice, expressed deep gratitude for the timely assistance.
The Army’s visible presence and compassionate outreach have boosted morale among the displaced, reinforcing trust in the armed forces not only as protectors but also as first responders during emergencies.
