Indian Army Conducts Lecture on Child Health and Drug Abuse Awareness in Rajouri
Rajouri, May 21: As part of its ongoing civic outreach under the Ayushman Bharat initiative, the Indian Army organized an awareness lecture on child health and drug abuse prevention at Parori Gujjaran village in Rajouri district. The event aimed to educate the local population on the growing threat of substance abuse and the measures being taken by the Government of India to combat it.
During the session, residents were sensitized about the dangers of drug addiction and the importance of early intervention, particularly among youth. Officials highlighted key government schemes such as the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), which seeks to create a drug-free society through awareness, rehabilitation, and community participation. Participants were also informed about the availability and services of Integrated Rehabilitation Centres for Addicts (IRCAs) and Addiction Treatment Facilities (ATFs), which offer professional support and recovery pathways for individuals affected by addiction.
The lecture was attended by 35 local residents, including 30 adult males and 5 children, who engaged actively with the resource persons. Community members expressed their appreciation for the Army’s initiative, acknowledging the importance of such awareness drives in remote areas.
This outreach programme marks another significant effort in the Indian Army’s broader strategy of perception management and community engagement in border regions. The Army reaffirmed its commitment to supporting national health missions and working alongside civilian agencies to promote well-being and social responsibility in underserved communities.
