Indian Army Concludes Stitching Course for Poonch Women

Srinagar, Feb 02: The Indian Army, as part of 'Operation Sadhbhavna,' concluded a stitching and tailoring course in Mohra Bacchai and Marhot, Poonch district of Jammu region.

The initiative aimed to equip local women with practical skills, fostering self-sufficiency and economic empowerment. A total No of 25 ladies and 10 family members were part of the event.

The Defence Spokesperson said that the stitching and tailoring course, conducted under the broader community development initiative, focused on imparting essential skills to promote self-employment opportunities for women. Beyond skill acquisition, the program aimed to build a sense of community and mutual support among the participants

"The course concluded with a final test, recognizing the proficiency of participants. Two top performers were awarded sewing machines as a token of appreciation for their achievements," he said.

He also said that the initiative seeks to enhance the economic prospects of the women in the region, promoting self-employment and contributing to the overall development of the community. “The positive impact of this endeavor is expected to resonate throughout the community, fostering a spirit of self-reliance and resilience.
