New Delhi, March 25: The Indian Army on Wednesday organised a curtain raiser event for the North Tech Symposium 2026 at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi, announcing that the symposium will be held in Prayagraj from May 4 to 6.

Defence spokesperson said the event marked the formal launch of the upcoming symposium, which is being organised jointly by the Northern and Central Commands of the Indian Army in coordination with the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM).

Senior Army officials, industry representatives, start-ups, academia, Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs), paramilitary forces and officials from the Ministry of Defence attended the curtain raiser.

Among those present were Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Central Command; Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, GOC-in-C, Northern Command; and Neeraj Gupta, Vice President, SIDM.

Officials said the symposium aims to provide a platform for collaboration between the Armed Forces, industry and academic institutions to address operational challenges through technological solutions.

The event outlined the theme of the symposium, “Raksha Triveni Sangam – Where Technology, Industry and Soldiering Converge,” highlighting the focus on integrating technological development with operational requirements of the Armed Forces.

According to officials, the symposium will include technology displays by industry partners based on a compendium of problem statements released during the curtain raiser, as well as inputs from previous Indian Army publications on technological challenges.

Two thematic seminars are also scheduled to be held during the symposium. The sessions, titled Strategic Autonomy in Next Generation Advancement and Manufacturing (SANGAM) and Defence Industry Harnessing through Resilient UPEIDA Verticals and Alliances (DHRUVA), will bring together experts from the Armed Forces, industry and academia to discuss issues related to capability development, emerging technologies and research trends.

Officials said the initiative is intended to bridge the gap between operational needs of the Armed Forces and indigenous technological capabilities, contributing to efforts aimed at strengthening defence self-reliance.

The participation at the curtain raiser indicated interest from industry, start-ups and academic institutions in engaging with defence technology initiatives.
