India–Africa Strategic Partnership Meet Held at Bharat Electricity Summit 2026

New Delhi, March 21: The India–Africa Strategic Partnership Meet was convened on the third day of the Bharat Energy Summit (BES) 2026, bringing together ministers, ambassadors, senior officials and global sector leaders to deepen cooperation in the power sector.

The session opened with a welcome address by Shri Jitendra Srivastava, Chairman and Managing Director of REC Limited. This was followed by strategic remarks from the CMD of NTPC Limited and the CEO of Africa50, setting the context for enhanced India–Africa collaboration in energy and infrastructure.

Key addresses were delivered by Union Minister for Power and Housing & Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, and Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy Shripad Naik.

The meet witnessed high-level participation from African ministers representing Mauritius and Malawi, along with ambassadors, high commissioners and permanent secretaries. Representatives from prominent international institutions, including the World Bank Group, Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited (KETRACO) and the Africa Infrastructure Development Association (AfiDA), also contributed to the deliberations.

A comprehensive overview of the Indian power sector was presented by the Chairperson of the Central Electricity Authority, followed by interactive discussions between African delegations and representatives of the Central Government and the Government of Haryana. The dialogue focused on collaboration opportunities, investment partnerships, joint ventures, capacity building and institutional strengthening to support reliable and sustainable power development.

Supported by Ernst & Young (EY) as Knowledge Partner and Moderator, the session provided a platform for participating countries to outline national priorities, ongoing initiatives and specific areas where partnership with India could deliver strategic value. The engagement fostered a shared vision for mutually beneficial cooperation aimed at advancing energy security and infrastructure growth across both regions.

The meet marked a significant step in reinforcing India’s leadership in international energy collaboration and strengthening long-term India–Africa partnerships in the power sector.
