Srinagar, June 10: State government has evicted 11660 Kanals of state and Kahcharaie land occupied by people in District Bandipora.
This was revealed by Minister for Revenue Syed Basharat Bukhari in State Assembly in response to a question raised by MLA Bandipora Usman Majeed.
Minister said an area of state land measuring 2877 Kanals 12 Marla’s and Kahcharaie land measuring 8783 Kanals and 02 Marla’s has been evicted in District Bandipora from illegal occupation.
He said the district administration is continuously taking steps to remove the encrochmemts in accordance with law . He,However, stated that enmass eviction of unauthorised occupants of the state land is always linked to law and order Issues which has to be taken into consideration while removing the encroachments.
Minister informed the house that the government has already notified a comprehensive scheme for eviction of unauthorised or illegal occupation on state land in consonance with the Jammu and Kashmir Land Revenue Act , Svt 1996, the Jammu and Kashmir Common Lands (Regulation) Act, 1956 and other relevant provisions of law in force in the state.
He said under the said scheme all the DCs have been made directly responsible for identification and removal of encroachments from the state or common land.
Minister said the department is pro actively monitoring the removal of encroachments by the subordinate revenue agency. He said High Court has already passed directions from time to time regarding removal of encroachments which are being adehered to by the DCs while implementing the substantive provisions of law.
Bukhari further stated that instructions have already been issued from time to time to the officials directing all revenue field functionaries to fix monthly and quarterly targets for removal of encroachments and DCs have been made personally responsible to monitor the progress at their level periodically .
