Gulmarg, Dec 22: Tourists vacationing in the health resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district have firmly dismissed concerns about terrorism in the Kashmir Valley, referencing a terror attack earlier this year in Pahalgam. They described Kashmir as a secure and welcoming destination.
In an exclusive conversation with Kashmir Convener, a group of holidaymakers from Maharashtra expressed their delight. “We are thrilled to see the snow; it is truly paradise on earth. The people here are so welcoming, caring, and helpful,” they said. “Who says there is terrorism here in Kashmir? That is a blatant falsehood. Kashmir is secure, especially for tourists, and is welcoming in every aspect.”
Kartik, a tourist from Pune, stated, “The narratives spread outside Kashmir are absolutely baseless. From the moment I entered, I found it calm, peaceful, and beautiful. In no aspect is Kashmir insecure; it is an absolutely amazing place and a must-visit destination.”
Nawaz, a visitor from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, speaking with Kashmir Convener, said, “I am at a loss for words to explain how happy and satisfied I am to witness the snowfall. Kashmir has always been a must-visit place for me, and I visit continuously because I feel no insecurity. Everything is fine here. The people are so welcoming; they will not leave you feeling alone.” He urged his fellow countrymen not to hesitate to visit. “It is part of India; it is our Kashmir. Those who are afraid should shed their fear and come to enjoy every corner of this beautiful region. It is truly paradise on earth.”
A couple from Jaipur, Rajasthan, called the negative portrayals of Kashmir “baseless and false claims.” They said, “It is really heaven on earth. This is a safe and secure place. People in every corner are so helpful and nice, and the hospitality is beyond words. Kashmiri people are the best in the world; nobody can match their love, care, and hospitality.” The couple emphasized, “We are Indians, and Kashmir is part of India. We have a loud and clear message for our fellow countrymen: why be afraid to visit our own land?”
Niruta, a tourist from Mumbai, told Kashmir Convener, “We did not expect to see snow here, as it had been dry for quite some time. However, seeing the snow has doubled our happiness. Kashmir is such a lovely part of India, with great and helpful people. I am at a loss for words to describe their hospitality. Kashmir is the best. Don’t miss visiting here; come and enjoy its beauty.”
Shahid, another traveler from Mumbai on his first visit, said, “Kashmir is such a nice place. I have enjoyed every moment. After seeing beautiful Gulmarg, I ask: who says foreign destinations are better for holidays? I think people are misled. Having visited Kashmir, I can say no place on earth can beat it.” He praised the disciplined and well-mannered locals, impressed by their respect towards tourists. “Whatever is being spread about Kashmir is far from reality. It is heaven; it is paradise.”
Renuka, a tourist from Delhi holidaying in Gulmarg, said, “After coming here, I don’t feel like returning. Kashmir is so beautiful. Seeing the snowfall in Gulmarg today, I am considering extending my stay. Every bit of its beauty has touched my heart, and the warm welcome from the people has added to my comfort.” She described the people as kind, innocent, and mission-driven to be helpful. “Kashmir’s impression has won my heart. Come to Kashmir; it is safe, secure, and beautiful.”
A family group from Uttar Pradesh stated, “As tourists, we can say it is heaven. Gulmarg is truly unmatched by any other part of the country. This winter wonderland in white is a million-dollar experience; it is so nice and beautiful.” They expressed hope that the snowfall would help revitalize tourism after a difficult summer. “It is so peaceful here. People should come back; everything is well-managed from a safety perspective, and the welcoming care is fully in place.”
Diya a visitor, returning Kashmir after two decades, said, “I must say I am speechless at how some things remain unchanged, the love of the people, their unmatched hospitality. They are so caring, loving, and respectful. I am in love with Kashmir.” The visitor appealed to fellow Indians, saying, “Stop being misled by false narratives. Come out and visit Kashmir. See for yourself how beautiful it is and how caring and loving the people are.”
