Bandipora, Jan 01: The field functionaries of the Office of the Assistant Labour Commissioner, Bandipora today conducted an extensive Information, Education and Communication (IEC) programme across various locations of the district to create awareness among workers and employers about the Four New Labour Codes and different social security schemes.

The IEC activities were carried out at Main Market Bandipora, Main Market Hajin, Sumo Stand Hajin, Bus Stand Nusoo, besides visits to several commercial establishments. During the outreach programme, workers, shopkeepers and establishment owners were sensitized about their rights and duties related to employment as envisaged under the new labour codes, with emphasis on legal compliance, worker welfare and smooth implementation of labour laws.

Special focus was laid on creating awareness about social security schemes, particularly the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PMSYM) scheme. The participants were informed about the benefits and eligibility criteria of the scheme, especially for unorganised sector workers. Pamphlets and other IEC materials were distributed among stakeholders to reinforce awareness regarding labour laws and social security benefits.

The initiative witnessed active public participation, with workers and employers seeking clarifications on labour-related provisions and social security measures. The IEC programme was well received by the stakeholders and contributed towards strengthening awareness and informed compliance.

The Department informed that similar IEC programmes will be conducted in other areas of the district in the coming days to ensure wider outreach and coverage of all stakeholders.
