HT Kashmir Bureau Chief Mir Ahsan Interacts with Students at PM Shri GHS Laharwalpora

 

Bandipora, November 15: Mir Ahsan, Chief of the Hindustan Times Kashmir Bureau, visited PM Shri Government Secondary School Laharwalpora on Saturday and held an informal interaction with students and teachers.

 

Speaking with Class 10 students, Mir Ahsan discussed the rich history and ecological significance of Wular Lake—one of Asia’s largest freshwater lakes—and its deep connection to the lives of the people of Kashmir, particularly the residents of Laharwalpora.

 

He encouraged the students to play an active role in preserving the pristine beauty of Wular and to take pride in safeguarding their natural heritage.

 

Located on the banks of the world-famous lake, the school offers a serene and inspiring environment for learning.

 

During the session, the senior journalist also quizzed students about the various resources and products derived from Wular, highlighting its importance as a source of livelihood for more than 50,000 people. The students responded with curiosity, asking several thoughtful questions that made the interaction lively and enriching.

 

Earlier, Headmaster Javaid Jawad introduced the guest and spoke about the noble profession of journalism. He extended a warm welcome to Mir Ahsan and thanked him for accepting the school’s invitation.

 

Following the formal interaction, Mir Ahsan joined the students in a friendly game of cricket and later interacted informally with the school staff.

 

He praised the improved infrastructure and vibrant academic atmosphere of the institution, commending the dedication of the young teaching faculty under the leadership of award-winning teacher Javaid Jawad.

 

He remarked that with such commitment and progress, the school is well on its way to becoming a model educational institution in the region.

Mir Ahsan was accompanied by his wife and son during the visit.
