Bandipora, Feb 28: An Inter-College Poster Making and Slogan Writing Competition on the theme “Sadak Suraksha–Jeevan Raksha” was organised on Friday at Hassan Shah Khuehami Memorial (HKM) Degree College Bandipora under the guidance of Principal Prof. Suresh Kumar Dogra.

The event was conducted as part of ongoing Road Safety Awareness initiatives aimed at sensitising students about responsible road behaviour and the importance of safeguarding human life.

Students from GDC Sumbal, GDC Ajas, GDC Hajin, and the host college participated enthusiastically in the competition. The programme was jointly coordinated by Dr. Mubashir Hamid Mir, Convener of the Road Safety Club, along with the NSS Units of the college, ensuring smooth conduct and active engagement throughout the event.

Participants showcased creative posters and compelling slogans highlighting key aspects of road safety, including prevention of rash driving, mandatory use of helmets and seatbelts, adherence to traffic rules, pedestrian protection and collective civic responsibility. The competition served not only as a platform for artistic expression but also as an opportunity to strengthen inter-college collaboration on a socially relevant cause.

The entries were evaluated by a jury comprising Dr. Mohammad Ashraf (Degree College Ajas), Dr. Firdous Ahmad (GDC Hajin), Dr. Manzoor Ahmad Parrey (Host College), and Dr. Ghulam Mohammad Khan (Host College). The jury appreciated the originality, clarity of message, thematic relevance and artistic presentation demonstrated by the participants.

In the results, Farkhanda Reyaz, a 4th Semester student of the host college, secured first position in the Poster Making category, while Iqra Wani, a 6th Semester student, clinched first position in the Slogan Writing category. Both winners will represent the district colleges at the State-Level Competition scheduled to be held at IASE Srinagar on March 5, 2026.

The programme concluded with appreciation for all participating institutions and a renewed commitment by educational establishments to promote road safety awareness through creative student-led initiatives. Dr. G. M. Khan served as the rapporteur for the event.
