HKM College Holds Anti-Drug Awareness Session

 

Bandipora, Sept 29: Under the banner of Sewa Parv 2025, the NCORD Cell of HKM Government Degree College Bandipora, in collaboration with the NSS Units, on Monday organised an interactive session on “The Growing Consumption of Drugs among Youth in Kashmir and its Prevention.”

AN official spokesperson said the programme was chaired by the Officiating Principal, Dr. Mubashir Hamid Mir, along with NCORD Cell Convener, Dr. G. M. Khan.

Both speakers expressed concern over the alarming rise in drug abuse among youth and urged students to remain vigilant against the menace. They also highlighted measures taken by the college administration to monitor student activities within the campus.

Speakers stressed the social, economic, ethical, and cultural consequences of drug addiction, warning that it destroys individuals, weakens families, and hampers the progress of society. Students were reminded that discipline, self-awareness, and conscious choices are essential to building a healthy and productive future.

During the session, students took a pledge to keep the campus drug-free, reaffirming the institution’s status as a No Smoking Zone. They also committed to discouraging peers from indulging in harmful practices and to reporting such cases when necessary.

The programme saw active participation from faculty and students. NSS Programme Officers Prof. Irfan Ahmad, Dr. Wasia Hamid, and Prof. Sadaf Shafi were also present and guided the students throughout the session.

The event concluded with the message that collective awareness and consistent community efforts are crucial to tackling the menace of drug abuse and safeguarding the future of Kashmiri youth.
