Bandipora, Jan 12: The NSS Unit of Hassan Khoyihami Memorial (HKM), Government Degree College Bandipora marked the celebration of National Youth Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of the youth icon Swami Vivekananda on Friday with great enthusiasm.
"As part of the festivities, a special screening was arranged for the inaugural ceremony of the National Youth Festival, taking place from January 12 to 16, 2024," a College Spokesperson said in a statement
He said that the NSS Programme Officer delivered a brief yet insightful speech on the purpose of the event, emphasizing the importance of youth empowerment and the role of such celebrations in fostering a sense of responsibility and leadership among the younger generation.
The NSS volunteers actively participated in the event, showcasing their spirit and commitment. Following the inaugural ceremony, a speech competition added an intellectual dimension to the celebrations. Saima Bano of 6th Semester secured the first position, followed by Shafiya of 6th Semester in the second position and Mr. Yasir of 3rd Semester in the third position.
"The event not only honoured the legacy of Swami Vivekananda but also provided a platform for the youth to showcase their talents and engage in meaningful activities. The NSS Unit expresses gratitude to all participants for making the National Youth Day celebration a resounding success,"he added.
