HKM College Bandipora organises awareness activities under NMBA

Bandipora, May 20: HKM College Bandipora on Wednesday organised a series of awareness activities under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) to educate students about the harmful effects of drug addiction and promote a healthy and responsible lifestyle.

         As part of the campaign, the Red Ribbon Youth Club of the college in collaboration with the Department of Botany organised a plantation drive within the college premises. Faculty members, volunteers and students enthusiastically participated in the drive and planted various saplings to promote environmental awareness and encourage eco-friendly practices alongside the message of a drug-free society.

         Meanwhile, the NCORD Cell of the college organised an awareness programme on “Drug Addiction among Students.” Speakers highlighted the physical, psychological, social and academic consequences of substance abuse and stressed the importance of youth participation in building a drug-free society. Students actively participated in the session and interacted on various issues related to drug abuse and prevention.

         The College Literary Club also organised an essay competition on the topic “Drug Abuse” to create awareness among students about the growing menace of drugs and encourage creative expression.

Participants presented thoughtful essays highlighting the causes, consequences and preventive measures related to substance abuse and emphasised the collective role of youth, educational institutions, families and society in combating the menace.

         HKM College Bandipora also organized an awareness program and panel discussion on Drug Abuse at Government Higher Secondary School Aloosa with the aim of spreading awareness among students about the harmful effects of drugs. The panel discussion focused on preventive measures, awareness, and the importance of youth participation in combating substance abuse.

         The programmes witnessed active participation from students and faculty members and concluded with a pledge to spread awareness against substance abuse and work towards a healthy and drug-free society.
