BANDIPORA, APRIL 11: Hassan Khoyihami Memorial (HKM) Government Degree College Bandipora organized an Ornamental Plantation Drive within its campus on Saturday, aiming to promote environmental awareness and enhance the aesthetic appeal of the institution.
Held under the guidance of Principal Prof. Suresh Kumar Dogra, the initiative was conducted by the Department of Botany and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who contributed a variety of ornamental seedlings brought from their homes.
The drive was supervised by Head of the Department of Botany, Dr. Mehrajuddin Talei, who guided students on plantation techniques, plant care, and the ecological importance of ornamental plants. The activity provided hands-on learning experience while highlighting the role of greenery in maintaining environmental balance.
The plantation effort led to a visible transformation of the campus, making it greener and more vibrant.
Besides its environmental significance, the programme also helped instill values of teamwork, sustainability, and shared responsibility among students, reflecting their growing awareness and commitment towards nature conservation.
