Bandipora, Jan 25: Hassan Khoyihami Memorial Degree College Bandipora celebrated 'National Voters Day' on January 25.
The college organised a pledge-taking ceremony under the theme 'Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure.'
Voting plays a pivotal role in democratic societies, serving as the cornerstone of citizens' direct participation in choosing their leaders.
The program witnessed the active participation of the college Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Masood Ahmad Malik, along with the teaching and non-teaching staff.
Spokesperson also said that NSS volunteers from the college enthusiastically took part in the ceremony, reflecting a collective commitment to the democratic process.
The NSS program officer, in his opening remarks, provided an overview of the event's importance, underlining the critical role of voting in a democratic society.
The ceremony aimed to instil a sense of responsibility and awareness among the attendees regarding their role in the electoral process, he added.
Principal Malik in his speech highlighted the historical and contemporary significance of National Voters Day.
He underscored the power of the vote in shaping the destiny of the nation and encouraged students to actively participate in the democratic process.
He also emphasized the college's commitment to nurturing responsible and engaged citizens who understand the value of their vote. Dr. Sheikh-ul-Ashraf, Senior Faculty in Botany, presented a vote of thanks.
