High School Bagh Hosts District-Level Kala Utsav Competition in Bandipora

Bandipora, Sept 13: The District-Level Kala Utsav competitions were held with zeal and enthusiasm at High School Bagh, Bandipora, on Saturday, witnessing vibrant participation from students across the district. The event served as a major platform for young talent to showcase their artistic and cultural abilities.

Cluster Head of Government Higher Secondary School Bandipora, Javaid Ahmad Magray, was the Chief Guest on the occasion while Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Bandipora, Fayaz Ahmad Shah, and ZEO Sumbal, Azad Ahmad Lone, attended as Guests of Honour.

During the programme, students who secured top positions in different categories were felicitated for their performances and selected to represent the district at the upcoming Divisional-Level Kala Utsav. The felicitation ceremony was marked by applause from teachers, officials, and fellow students, recognizing the outstanding efforts of the young participants.

The competitions, held under the Education Department’s cultural initiative, are aimed at promoting creativity, artistic expression, and cultural awareness among students. Organisers said the event not only encouraged children to nurture their talents but also built confidence by providing them an opportunity to perform before larger audiences.

Prior to the district-level event, Kala Utsav competitions had been held at school, cluster, and zonal levels, attracting hundreds of students from both high and higher secondary schools. The selected students from these preliminary rounds competed in the final district-level showcase across 12 categories of art, music, dance, and theatre.

In addition to student participants, dozens of teachers and all zonal cultural coordinators were actively involved in the programme, ensuring smooth conduct and vibrant participation. Officials said the overwhelming response reflected the growing interest of students in cultural and creative fields alongside academics.

The Chief Guest and other guests lauded the efforts of the Education Department and teachers in nurturing talent, noting that Kala Utsav has become a prestigious platform for the youth of Kashmir to display their cultural heritage at state and national levels.
