Heavy Snowfall: Army visits cut off Koragbal village to assess situation

Bandipora, January 10: Indian Army stationed in Kanzalwan area of Gurez Valley on Monday visited different villages of the area that are cut off owing to heavy snow in the area.

        In a statement issued to Kashmir Convener, Spokesperson said after the first heavy snow spell in the Kanzalwan area Army organised “Day with Company Commander”- an initiative to interact with locals to understand their problems and provide assistance to them.  He said the Company Commander visited the southernmost village of the unit AOR, Koragbal village.

The Company commander interacted with village elders and on request of the villagers medicines for common illness were distributed by BFNA.

During the interaction, army officers emphasized on the locals to adopt Precautions during winters to avoid fire incidents as fires are common during winters in the area. They also urged the locals to adopt Covid Appropriate Behavior to avoid spread of the virus. “Important telephone numbers were shared to provide assistance in case of contingencies”.

The village Imams (Maulvi) were also informed about several welfare schemes besides government policies on modernisation of religion education in Madrasas and Makhtabs.

          Spokesperson said the villagers also raised the issue of lack of proper tuition facilities being provided in the Koragbal school during winters due to the absence of the teachers.

The  Company Commander assured the locals that the  issue being a common concern shall be Projected before district administration in next interaction.

"Project Recruitment" initiative at Kanzalwan by Army was again highlighted during the interaction and youth were motivated to explore this opportunity. Locals highly appreciated the effort of Army towards ensuring holistic development and safety of the region.
