Kaithal/Haryana, Dec 30: Following intervention by the Jammu & Kashmir Students Association (JKSA), an FIR has been registered in connection with the assault on a Kashmiri shawl seller in Kaithal district, and a massive manhunt is underway to apprehend the accused.
The swift action comes under the direct supervision of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, who has emphasised zero tolerance for harassment or violence against Kashmiri traders.
Nasir Khuehami, National Convenor of JKSA, stated that after the matter was raised with the Chief Minister’s Media Advisor, FIR registration was confirmed at Kalayat Police Station under Sections 196(1), 299, and 353(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police teams have been deployed for raids at multiple locations, and the perpetrators are expected to be apprehended soon.
The JKSA highlighted that another incident reported from Fatehabad district is also under active investigation, with the CMO assuring prompt FIR registration and arrests.
Welcoming the Haryana government’s decisive action, the Association reiterated that repeated harassment and intimidation of Kashmiri traders across states is deeply concerning and called for strict, time-bound, and deterrent measures. Khuehami added that Kashmiri traders, who have peacefully contributed to local economies for decades, must be allowed to work with dignity and without fear.
The JKSA expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister, noting that swift action reinforces the rule of law and sends a clear message that communal hatred will not be tolerated.
