Handwara narco-militancy case: NIA conducts raid in Sumbal Bandipora

Srinagar, Mar 15: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday carried out searches in Wangipora village of Sumbal in North Kashmir's Bandipora district in connection with the Handwara narco-militancy case and seized four mobile phones besides other documents.

As per News Agencies the searches were conducted at the residence of Showkat Ahmad Parray son of Abdul Salaam Parray at Wangipora village.

Showkat is already under NIA detention in connection with the Handwara narco-militancy case under case number RC-03/2020/NIA/JMU dated 23.06.2020 registered at NIA Police Station, Jammu u/s 120-B & 121 of the IPC, u/s 8 & 21 of NDPS Act, 1985 and u/s 17, 18 & 20 of UA(P) Act., 1967, as per Ministry of Home Affairs CTCR Division, Order No. 11011/43/2020/NIA, dated 22.06.2020.

"During searches, several electronic gadgets including four mobile phones of Samsung & Redmi, two SIM cards, a dairy and three blank papers having multiple stamps of Senior Superintendent of Central Jail, Srinagar "seemingly fake" besides other documents were seized," top NIA sources said.

Pertinently, the NIA on last Friday had claimed to have recovered Rs 91 lakh 'drug proceeds' in Samba district in connection with Handwara narco-militancy case. (KDC)
