Srinagar, Oct 27: The government has officially recognized the Sumbal-Bandipora-Gurez Road and the proposed Razdan Pass Tunnel as critical infrastructure lifelines for the Bandipora district.
This statement was issued in a written reply to a question raised by Bandipora MLA, Mr. Nizam-Ud-Din Bhat during an ongoing Autumn session of J&K assembly.
A government report, a copy of which lies with Kashmir Convener, explicitly stated, “It is a fact that the Sumbal-Bandipora-Gurez Road, including the proposed Razdan Pass Tunnel, serves as a vital connectivity route for the remote and far-flung areas of Bandipora District, facilitating access to the rest of the Union Territory and the country.”
The road and proposed tunnel are essential for integrating these remote areas of Bandipora, particularly the Gurez sector, which is cut off for extended periods during the harsh winter months.
