GLTF Hails Historic Court Victory Over Govt Order No. 469

Bandipora, November 3: The Jammu and Kashmir General Line Teachers Forum (JKGLTF) has hailed the recent court verdict upholding the rights of General Line Teachers as a historic and long-awaited victory over Government Order No. 469, calling it a triumph of truth, unity, and perseverance.

In a statement issued on Monday, senior member and former general secretary of the Forum, Zahoor Ahmad Lone, congratulated all members of the teaching fraternity across Jammu and Kashmir for their collective struggle that began more than a decade ago.

“The journey that began in 2014, when injustice was done through the issuance of Order No. 469, was not an easy one. It was marked by challenges, sacrifices, and years of tireless efforts by our dedicated leadership and committed members,” Lone said.

He recalled that the Forum had approached the Hon’ble High Court of Jammu and Kashmir, which delivered a verdict in favour of the General Line Teachers. The decision was later challenged in the Supreme Court of India through a Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by the Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) community, but the Apex Court dismissed the plea, thereby upholding the High Court’s ruling.

Terming the judgment as monumental, Lone said it reinforced the belief that “truth and dedication always prevail.” He added that the victory was not just legal but also moral and symbolic of the fraternity’s strength and unity.

“This triumph reminds us that when we stand together with honesty and determination, no power can defeat us,” he said, while urging teachers to continue working for the dignity and rights of the profession.

Lone expressed gratitude to all Forum members for their faith and perseverance throughout the struggle and prayed for continued unity and progress within the teaching community.
