GDC Women Sopore Mourns Demise of Dr Tabassum Naz

Sopore, March 27: Government Degree College for Women on Friday organised a condolence meeting to mourn the untimely demise of Dr Tabassum Naz, Assistant Professor of Zoology at Government Degree College Poonch, who passed away in a tragic road accident on March 26.

The meeting was organised on the directions of Principal Prof Subeena Chillo in the front lawn of the college, where faculty members, teaching and non-teaching staff, local fund employees and students gathered to express grief and pay rich tributes to the departed soul.

On the occasion, Dr Noor-u-Zaman, Assistant Professor of Arabic, led the Fateha Khawani and prayed for eternal peace of the deceased. Special prayers were also offered for the speedy recovery of her husband, who was critically injured in the accident.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal Prof Subeena Chillo remembered Dr Tabassum Naz as a dedicated academician, compassionate teacher and a committed educationist. She said that her contribution to higher education and her caring approach towards students earned her immense respect among colleagues and students alike.

The participants described her death as a great loss to the academic fraternity and expressed that her sudden passing has left a deep void in the teaching community of Jammu and Kashmir.

On behalf of the college, the Principal extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and expressed solidarity with the faculty and students of Government Degree College Poonch.

The gathering prayed for strength and patience for the family to bear the irreparable loss.
