GDC Sopore organises webinar on “Contribution of Mir Syed Ali Hamadhani (RA) in Socio-Economic Development of Kashmir”
Sopore, Jan 31: The Department of Islamic Studies, Govt Degree College Sopore Monday organized an International Webinar on "Contribution of Mir Syed Ali Hamadhani (RA) in Socio-Economic Development of Kashmir".
An official said thr webinar was coordinated by Head Department of Islamic Studies Dr. Abida Quansar under the guidance of Prof. Principal of the College Dr. Salma Ahad.
The event started with the Welcome address by Dr Wahid Ahmad Sheikh, Head Department of Persian who welcomed the Guest Speakers and participants from across India and abroad.
The Programme was presided over by Prof. (Dr.) Salma Ahad who also delivered an inaugural address after recitation of the Qur’an by Sabit Manzoor, student of 5th Semester, Govt. Degree College Sopore.
Prof. Farzaneh Azam Lotfi, Associate Professor, Department of Foreign Languages & Literature, Indian Studies, University of Tehran, Iran was the Chief Guest of this event.
Prof. Muhammad Afzal Wani, Former Pro-Vice Chancellor, IILM, University, Greater Noida, delivered Keynote Address in which he highlighted some important points on the theme of webinar like relevance of Mir Syed Ali Hamdani’s teachings in contemporary times and the pressing need to act upon his innovative and developmental ideas in present times.
It was followed by a thought provoking lecture by Prof. Farzaneh Azam Lotfi. She spoke on the topic “Mir Syed Ali Hamadani(R.A)-An Ambassador of Peace and Great Amir of Iran.
She shed light upon the teachings of brotherhood, importance of humility in view of Amir-i-Kabir’s written works, and enthusiasm of Shah-I Hamadan to spread the message of peace and unity among his followers in Kashmir and also expressed her views regarding Kashmir- which according to her should be called as Iran-i-Sani (second Iran) instead of Iran-i-Saghir (Small Iran).
Technical session of the webinar ended with an enlightening talk of Prof. Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, Former Head, Shah-i Hamadan Institute of Islamic Studies, University of Kashmir. He spoke on “The Metaphysical Dimensions in Sayyid Ali Hamadani (R.A)”. He discussed Life and Contributions of Mir Sayyid Ali Hamdani in the form of his works like Zakheerat-ul-Malook, Minhaaj-ul-Arfeen, Awaraad e Fateh and Chahl-i-Asrar. He highlighted importance of his teachings for a peaceful life.
It was followed by Question Answer Session in which students and scholars took a leading part.
The Programme was attended by a good number of Professors, Scholars and Students from different Colleges and Universities from Kashmir to Kerala and abroad.
The event was concluded with vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Abida Quansar, Head Department of Islamic Studies and the Coordinator of International Webinar. She presented special thanks to worthy Principal Prof.(Dr) Salma Ahad, Govt Degree College Sopore, for her immense support, guidance and patronage to make this event a success.
