BANDIPORA, MARCH 08: Government Degree College Ajas Bandipora on Monday celebrated the International Women’s Day 2021with an aim to inspire women and to boost their confidence.
The event was formally started with the welcome address by Mehraj Din Assistant Professor Education GDC Ajas followed by the Recitation of Quranic Verses and Naat-e-Sharief by Shaista Akhter and lqra Ramzan respectively.
Prof Parveen Kousar Principal Govt. Degree College Ajas in her presidential address said that women are wonderful creation by the almighty Allah. In her speech she threw light on the historical background of international women's day celebrations and encouraged female students of the college to take lead in their lives by working hard for themselves, their families and for nation to larger extent.
Dr. Nahida Naseem Assistant Professor GDC Hajin while speaking as guest speaker highlighted the history behind celebration of international Women's day. She deliberated on some important issued including domestic violence, denial of inherited propriety, female feticides and dowry. She also deliberated upon need to empower women in light of this year's theme ''Choose to Challenge”. She argued that by virtue of education, making women economically sufficient and enabling them to realize hidden potentials, abilities and talents bestowed by Almighty, women have made their identity by different ways.
The Students of the college were encouraged to speak on this occasion. Many Students participated and presented their articles before the audience. Among the student speakers, Shaiata Akhter, Afshana Mubarak and Ulfat Wali got 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively and were presented mementos as a token of love.
The celebrations were concluded with the vote of thanks presented by Dr Irshad Ahmad, Assistant Professor Urdu Govt. Degree College Ajas Bandipora while Mehruj Din Assistant professor Education anchored the session.
