Gandhi Global Family Distributes Relief to Flood-Hit Families in Jammu
Jammu, August 31: Gandhi Global Family (GGF) on Saturday extended relief to families affected by recent floods in Jogi Gate, New Company Bagh, and Kabir Colony, where torrential rains have caused extensive damage to homes and livelihoods.
Volunteers of GGF, accompanied by its Women Wing, distributed essential relief items including food packets, dry ration, sanitary products and daily-use commodities to the affected families. The initiative, officials said, was aimed at providing immediate assistance to those left struggling to meet their basic needs after the calamity.
At Jogi Gate, the drive was launched in the presence of SP South Jammu, Vivek Shekhar, Army veteran Lt. General Rakesh Sharma, and Padma Shri awardee Dr. S.P. Varma, along with several senior members of Gandhi Global Family. Addressing the gathering, the representatives expressed solidarity with the distressed families and assured that the organization would continue to stand by them until they are rehabilitated. They emphasized that such humanitarian service reflects Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy of compassion and community service.
In New Company Bagh and Kabir Colony near Poonch House, the relief efforts were carried out in collaboration with the Punjab National Bank Officers’ Association, led by its General Secretary Vishal Verma. Manager Nitin Singh and Anil Bharti from PNB Talab Tillo branch were also present to extend services and support the distribution.
The local community, facing acute challenges due to the flooding, expressed heartfelt gratitude to GGF and partner organizations for reaching out in their hour of need.
Among those who joined the relief effort were Jaswinder Singh Kuku, Mehant Rajesh Bitoo, Dr. Alka Sharma, Sumi Sahi Seth, Punit Kour, Ved Verma, Naresh Maini, Dr. Jyoti Malhotra, Dr. Himani Bhutyal, Er. S.K. Vaid, Dalbir Chib, Reetu Choudhary, Amit Gupta, Neelam Nargotra, Manish Joshi, Babita Bhat, Sanjay Bhat, Amit Varma, along with prominent local citizens, representatives of the district administration, and members of several NGOs.
The Gandhi Global Family said it would continue its outreach programs across affected areas of Jammu in the coming days, reiterating its commitment to humanitarian service.
