Gurez, Dec 14: The higher reaches of Tulail Valley in Gurez experienced a fresh snowfall during the intervening night, leading to dip in temperature across the region. Locals said that snowfall began during the night hours and continued till early morning, bringing colder weather conditions.
While upper areas witnessed fresh snowfall, lower areas experienced chilly winds and a fall in minimum temperatures. Residents in higher reaches reported winter-like conditions following the snowfall.
Meanwhile, weather forecasts indicate that dry conditions are likely to dominate Jammu and Kashmir for at least the next seven days. However, a few isolated spots in higher reaches may receive light snowfall during next 48 hours, particularly during tonight and tomorrow night.
The maximum chances of light snow are along the Sonamarg–Zojila–Drass axis, including the higher reaches of Bandipora and Kupwara districts. Very light snow spells may also occur at Sinthan Top, Margan Top, and the Affarwat Hills. Apart from these isolated spells in upper areas, the overall weather across the region is expected to remain dry.
