Foreign militant involved in killing of two councilors, policeman trapped in Sopore encounter: IGP
Srinagar, May 04: A foreign militant involved in the killing of two councilors and a policeman is trapped in an intense gun battle that broke out between militants and security forces in Nathipora area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday afternoon.
In a tweet IGP Kashmir zone Vijay Kumar has informed that the foreign militant involved in the killing of two councilors and a policeman at Sopore on March 29 this year is trapped in the ongoing encounter.
Earlier, reports reaching KDC that a joint team of SOG, Army’s 22 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Nathipora.
As the joint team of forces encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight.
A senior police officer also confirmed to KDC about exchange of firing between militants and security forces. (KDC)
